About

Artist Statement:

I am a traditional artist from New York, and I’ve been creating artwork and exploring mainly pastels as a medium, but I also work with acrylics and watercolors. My work is whimsical, nostalgic, and often full of macabre charm. My pieces typically feature a central character surrounded by emotive colors, botanical details, and natural elements.

Artist Bio:

Melissa Pelletier is a self-taught artist from Lindenhurst, NY, who mainly uses traditional mediums but also creates animated media based on her work. After some personal loss in 2019, she dove headfirst into her passion for drawing and began creating botanical illustrations that evolved into surrealist ideas and portraits. She was inspired to start telling stories with her art, mainly those based on the supernatural, folklore, and history. She found a wonderful community of like-minded artists online, and they have inspired each other to develop their craft to this day. She has taken workshops at the Boston Museum of Fine Arts and has been involved in local art festivals, shows, and competitions throughout New York state. She has exhibited her work most notably as part of the Patchogue Arts Council’s Art On The Marquee at the Historic Patchogue Theatre for the Performing Arts.
